4.1. Adapt Instructional Methods for Diverse Learners. Readings

Why adaptation matters in Higher Education

Cultural diversity among university students influences learning preferences, communication styles, classroom engagement, and perception of authority. A one-size-fits-all approach to instruction may marginalise students from minority or underrepresented backgrounds, reduce their motivation, or limit their academic performance.

Effective lecturers reflect on how their teaching methods can unintentionally privilege certain groups over others. By adopting inclusive, adaptable methods, they foster equitable participation and allow all students to feel recognised, respected, and empowered. In digitally transformed environments, adaptation also means ensuring that online platforms and tools are inclusive and culturally responsive.
